What is Copyright

intellectual works. In 1976 the United States Congress passed the Copyright Act
that gave the owner of the copyright the exclusive right to do or authorize others
to do the following:

To reproduce the work in copies etc.
Prepare derivative works based upon the work.
To distribute copies of the work to the public for sale or other transfer
of ownership, by rental, lease, or lending.
To display the work publicly in anyway or form.
In the case of audio work to perfor the work in public.

It is illegal for someone to violate any of these because of the rights
given by the Copyright Act. These are not unilimted rights though, there is the
fair use policy that can have some exemptions. Not all works are protected under
the Copyright Act. For example works that have not been fixed in tangible form
or ideas are not covered, titles, names or short phrases are also not generally
covered under copyright law.

You do not need to register your works in order to be covered under law, but
this can be beneficial if the works are extremelly important. You do not also
have to have a copyright notice but this also is encouraged and beneficial in
order to communicate to the user the copyright information. A copyright is

legal manner. All information and pictures used are either original works or
have been given permission to be used on the website. If a picture or works are
not original works then they are cited properly with permission from the owner
of the works.
